Of all planets to mimic, Zebes was probably the worst pick of the bunch. The acid washed crackling landscape were only a reminder of the impending doom that could come should the sky deem it time for a torrential downpour. Luckily, that weather forecast wasn’t in the cards, not yet anyways. The dark clouds were circling like there was chum in the water.
What the team was searching for exactly didn’t seem obvious, until it smacked them in the face. Within a crater lied a rather gruesome scene, a collection of trophies in the shape of Life Sphere citizens. It looked like a looting party, a couple of buds down on their luck searching through the more obscure sections of Li to find treasures that might have been overlooked otherwise. They were scattered about, next to their solidified bodies were scars burnt into the ground by heat-based weaponry.
The crater was littered with clues, but it would be difficult to make heads or tails of any of it due to the chaos that ensued in the area. It would take a trained eye to tell one footprint from the other and where they led.
[WIS check: roll 13 or higher for super detective vision]
Speckled within the chaos were little specks of blue bacteria, glowing with power, but not in enough supply to raise any alarm. Considering the amount left behind, it seemed like it was just a bit of run-off from whatever weapon the attackers were wielding. Two out of three of the team would probably know what it is based on sight alone.
One much less subtle addition to the landscape was a curious critter, an Arachnus. The fallen adventurers had left sacks of loot behind, of which the creature was snooping through with great haste. It tossed the odd object behind its back, though stuffed a few shiny bobbles into its nifty little satchel. It didn’t have any visible weapons on it; however, its claws might be considered built-in weapons.

KOS-MOS had arrived on the scene by way of her motorcycle, her visor down as she sped through the area on her way to Zebes Depths, her purely mechanical body used to the harsh conditions since she was built specifically for combat.
Once she reached the destination, she stepped off the bike and it vanished almost instantly, with her commensing a scan of the area once she reached the crater. WIS ROLL: Zq5iVfHRp_1d20+2=21(Near critical scan... U.M.N. accessed!)

With the sound of a Gunshops revving, Samus's Airship would fly through the lower levels of the life sphere, before suddenly opening its hatch and dropping down Samus Aran, Dressed in her Life Itself Power Suit, Locking and Loading her Arm-cannon as she landed with a sharp Thud, as her ship flew back toward the direction of the Life Sphere. Samus walked toward the crater, As she flicked on her Visor, Scanning the sight..
"Some Biomutagen Ore, Trophies, And an Arachnus...Its almost like this was made for me." Samus would say, as she peered closer to the actual objects the Arachnus was hoarding, more toward what it was stashing away than what it was throwing aside-- After all, Such objects could be retrieved later. Though, Samus's Visor did pick up on a Mint edition Bally-hoo 2018 Christmas Ornament, It wasnt particularly noteworthy to Samus, as she soon raised her arm cannon, And fired a shot into the air! Just a Standard power beam shot, enough to make the Arachnus weary, or atleast get its attention.
After all, All Arachnus Samus has met in her time were fairly territorial. If it was supposed to be here, It'd let samus know by attacking. If it wasnt, The Arachnus would run off to wherever its perceived nest was...Though, with the specs of glowing blue...It was possible that logic was out of the window. Samus was in her power armor, though. She was running on full confidence, in her 'Sunday's Best.'
And then, Samus's visor came upon...Kos-Mos. Totally Inorganic Material, Asides Synthetic Skin and hair...Nothing particularly of note. She was as machine as any Robot was, Atleast by a Visor's Glance, With some particular machinery around her chest area, and Highly Advance Space-age Tech. Though, even more noticiable to Samus, was the Buzzing surrounding Kos-mos. Nano-machines? How very....Interesting.
"Why make a machine like that, then make it look like a human..." Samus would quietly ponder to herself, as she pondered...1d20

A little later on after Samus and KOS-MOS showed up, Rundas dropped from above two, an icy blue glint reflecting off of his body as he looked around. He may not have had the scanners or technology that the other two had, but he was still quite perceptive. Looking over the wasteland, Rundas tried to take note of anything that he could see. If Ghor was anywhere here, then he'd certainly leave some sort of trace.
With only a quick look around, Rundas spied some blue specks left on what was left on the unfortunate adventuring party. He was all too familiar with the substance, and the fact that it was here proved that Ghor was probably nearby. "He's here. That much I'm sure of..." Rundas muttered, turning toward Samus and KOS-MOS and nodding. "Samus. Good to have you on this search." he greeted his old comrade in arms. The other was less familiar to the ice-cold bounty hunter, but if she was able to pull her weight, then he wasn't complaining. "We should get moving. Ghor was definitely here, and I don't think he could have gotten too far. We should be able to catch up to him if we hurry."

It seemed that everyone was at the top of their game today. They were the best at what they did, so their ability to track a target was without question. The foot patterns told a story, one that was more hopeless than the scene made it out to be. The deceased looters barely moved before being stuck down cold, it was an ambush. By whom though? The two-pronged clawed feet were unmistakeable to Samus and Rundas. They were the footprints of space pirates.
The story went further, the space pirates emerged from outside of the crater and made quick work of the defenseless invaders. Once the deed was done, a lone set of footprints entered the crater to inspect the trophies. It looked as though one of the trophies took the pirate’s interest. There was a subtle trail of dirt, making it seem like a trophy was dragged from out of the crater and into the tundra. The trail carried on for a few feet until all the footprints abruptly stopped. The crackled landscape made it look like it was made up of tiles, this was only further cemented as the pirates’ tracks ended at a very specific tile. It was only slightly off coloured.
The sound of the Arachnus’ rummaging was enough to disguise the sounds of the party entering the crater; thus, the creature didn’t detect their presence at first. It was quite focused with it’s looting job, though it peeked over the ledge of the crater and toward the off coloured tile with severe paranoia.
Only after the power shot was fired did the Arachnus’ head jolt to attention. Its shovel-like claws froze and fell to its sides. With the speed of a lunging cobra, the creature’s neck twisted to face the trio. From its three-pronged maw erupted a torrent of flames flung squarely at Samus. The fire splashed outwards, its flames acting like the water from a balloon, spraying the two surrounding the bounty hunter.
Spitfire: 28% to main target with 14% splash damage to surrounding enemies. If any target has been afflicted by Burn, they receive an extra 6% damage. All of Arachnus’ fire-based moves receive a 3 turn cooldown.
“Back off, pi-” the monstrous being bellowed confidently before realizing who its target actually was. Its eyes bulged in terror as they fell upon Samus. The other two were plenty threatening as well, but it was like an atom bomb being wedged between two tanks. Any of them would be an uphill battle, its just that one completely annihilates its targets. “Aw no!” it shouted with reckless abandon. The creature curled into a ball and spun itself out of dodge, Sonic the Hedgehog style.
While the initial boost that flung the balled-up creature back onto the tundra gave it a significant head start, it was not out of range. A well-placed shot from any of the three could stop the creature dead in its tracks. 1d20+3

"Likewise, Rundas." Samus would reply to her Frosty compaion, Turning to Rundas and giving a wave. While Rudnas couldn't see it, Samus was smiling under her Helmet and her bright blue visor, as Samus looked back to the scene below, as Samus let out a small sigh from her helmet. "...Space Pirates." Samus would state bluntly, Pointing an armored finger to the clawed feet marks on the floor. A Trophy was dragged away as well...
"If Ghor were in his Mech, I think we'd find some evidence of the giant thing around here somewhere....Subtlety was never exactly his strong suit." Samus explained,More to Kos-mos than anyone, seeing as she was the odd one out. And it was just then, the Arachnus finally noticed them...And opened fire. So, Territory standing it was then!

With Pretty remarkable Dexterity, Samus suddenly Curled up into a Morph ball, Rolling ahead of the Fire Blast and avoiding the explosion, Rolling down the Crater and then unfurling once reaching a decent point where she could stand, Now looking down at the Arachnus like Obi Wan looking down on an Anakin on the highground. And the Arachnus's Words cemented the fear. "It can talk?" Was what Samus replied with, as suddenly the creature was trying to escape! Knowing the creature could Speak, Gave Samus some remarkably high hopes that the thing could tell them what was going on here. And so, Samus took to firing position--

Blam! ...Samus fired a Beam shot that flew off to who knows where in space. Trigger fingers. Samus coughed a little in awkward embarrassment of that misifire. "Lets...Try that again." Samus would say, Before her Arm cannon suddenly loaded up a Bright Red Energy, Charging up into its base, as Samus's Visor created a Scope for her to aim down...And Fired off an Imperialist blast, Aimed for the Arachnus's Back! Somewhere that Vital Organs wouldn't land an instant death, But certainly enough to get it to Stop moving!

...Samus smiled under her Visor, Adjusting her arm cannon as her bright red rail cannon hit its mark. "Well, Shall we go meet our friend?" Samus would reply with a flirty tone i her voice, Before walking off to catch that Arachnus!1d20·1d20·1d20·1d20

KOS-MOS would look at Samus, more out of curiosity than anything else, in comparison between the two of them, KOS-MOS would be a futuristic sherman tank in human form and Samus would be an ultra powerful nuclear warhead in human form that KOS-MOS would carry. "It is a pleasure to meet and work with you, I am KOS-MOS." she would say, turning her attention to the Arachnus in the area, who was alerted to their presence thanks to the normal power beam shot, and it would respond in kind with a spitfire that KOS-MOS would get out of the way of. DEX ROLL: eYeGHH0wp_1d20+2(successful dodge!)
KOS-MOS would then attempt to run a scan on the Arachnus, but on it identifying Samus, would run off, with Samus giving it a sniper shot that would most certainly cripple the creature. "It would perhaps be a good idea to see what information we can get from them if at all possible." KOS-MOS would say, following alongside Samus, but keeping her area scanners semi-active to ensure that she doesn't lose track of which areas they would have to explore in order to find their target. Bounty-hunting wasn't really his thing but beating the circuitry out of robots was definitely something he could do. When you have an incompetent villain taking over the world with the ability to send wave after wave of faulty bots after you, you get a knack for it after a while. A few well aimed punches and things ought to turn out right.
A green pipe crept its way out of the ground not too far off from the crater. Pac-Man hopped out of it a second later, sticking the landing with his hands up and that smile plastered across his face. He was getting the hang of the warp pipe system without loosing his pac-dots in the process. Pac-Man turned back to watch the pipe retreat back into the ground. "I'll catch you later," he commented once it was gone. Turning back to his surroundings, Pac took in the area around him. He hadn't been to this part of the planet before but from the looks of it he could understand why. This place was bleak. A mix of rock and acid that made his smile falter a bit. If his boots would protect him from such was questionable but it didn't concern him at the time. It wasn't far off that there was a crater and within seconds of noticing it there was a ball of light taking off into the dark skies. Yup, this was probably the place.
Pac-Man hopped over the edge of the crater and let his spherical body roll down into a ball, letting gravity do the work for him. He uncurled himself back into his more animated self and investigated further.
ZVY3QiQZp_1d20+2=20 (Wisdom check for Pac-Detective.)
There lied a mix of trophies that caused him to be more alert. He slowly approached, taking caution before looking down at the ground. He caught his boot about to step down on some tracks so he reeled himself back and took a moment to look around. From what he could gather there was a scuffle of sorts. The alien tracks wasn't ringing any bells with him. He wouldn't have the first clue what to do out here. He knew some basic information about the area through reading but not much else. The sight of alien tracks only mystified him further as he watched them go to the trophy rack and walk back out into the area outside the crater.
The sound of talking caught his attention and saw two others heading out to something in the distance. "Uh, hey ladies! Wait for me!" He called out before putting the pep back into his step.

While Samus was quick to antagonize the Arachnus after deducing the pirate activity, Rundas spent a bit more time analyzing the story that the footprints told. Needless to say, he didn’t like what they had to say. His head raised slightly as Samus deduced that it was Space Pirates too. “I’m sure this time they’ll learn their lesson…” he exposited sarcastically.
Before he could say too much more on the matter, he had to take evasive maneuvers. A cool guy like him couldn’t be licked by flames after all, and he certainly wasn’t going to be backshot by an Arachnus of all things. Summoning a stream of ice under his feet, Rundas ramped off the bowl of the crater, landing at the edge of it once more. He glared at the fleeing Arachnus, but he felt he couldn’t ignore his suspicions. Besides, the creature had Samus hot on its tail, it wouldn’t get far. Radioing Samus, Rundas went on to explain “I sense a trap. See what you can get out of that thing, I’ll take to the air, see if we have any Pirates waiting to jump out at us. Give Ghor some extra justice for me… or something.” With that, the icy alien summoned his signature ice surfboard under his feet and slid through the sky.

Meanwhile, the Arachnus was plenty satisfied in spin dashing its way out of dodge. Frankly its mind was focused on nothing but rolling as fast as it could. Space Pirates? sure he could scuffle with those guys. Samus? No thanks, he liked his internal organs where they were. At the first sound of the bounty hunter’s iconic weapon, the creature swerved wildly. His desperate attempt must have work because he didn’t even hear the power pellet hit anything yet. A stroke of relief…
[Arachnus’ Imperialist DODGE!: p_1d20+3] <13>
Just when the creature thought it was safe though, it was smacked right in the back by a very different, very powerful beam. His shell absorbed a lot of the impact, but its sheer force broke its ball form, causing it to tumble until it fell flat on its stomach. A clod of dirt was sputtered out of its mouth before it shook its head for clarity sake. He survived, but probably not for much longer. Not unless he played his trump card.
As the Arachnus was readying itself to stand up again, it frantically dug through its satchel once more, its head whipping back and forth as it checked the distance of the bounty hunters in relation to how much closer he was to uncovering his item of interest. The rummaging ceased very soon afterwards though.
Quickly as the trio encroached, the creature turned with hands in surrender, a shiny ornament tucked between its fingers. “Ey, whoa, whoa, ey! Listen! The Ballyhoo Christmas Ornament is chump change, but this Big Top edition goes for serious coin on the Black Market. It’s yours” he bartered without moving a muscle. “I’d put it on the ground for you to take it, but it’d lose 20% of its value. See, I’m a good guy, I wouldn’t do you wrong” he added nervously. “I swear, if I knew it was youse, I wouldn’t have did nothing, I swear on my nine kids!”
As Pac-Man rolled down the down the side of the crater, the blue particles were swept away like smoke clearing. However, the sudden movement gave life to them. After expanding out, they pulled back in, as though they were swinging on a pendulum. The motion charged them, the scattered remains forming a small cloud. It crept out of the crater, following Pac-Man’s trail of footsteps. 1d20+3·1d20+3

Samus, As she approached the begging and pleading Arachnus, Kept her Cannon aimed at the Arachnus's Head as it pleaded for its life. "Well, Now you know what happens if you try to run away, Right?" Samus threatened the Arachnus in order to Dissuade him from trying to run off again. Samus looked at the Bauble that the Arachnus tried to offer as a Bartership for his freedom, to Which Samus would simply decline by causing her cannon to begin to glow. A Little bit of Threat of Violence to get the memory jogging.
"Not interested in trading things to the Black Market, And im not interested in the ornament. Keep it." Samus would say, To ensure the Arachnus was aware that wasn't what she was after. "What im interested in is what happened here." Samus would say, as she aimed ther arm cannon dead on the Arachnus's head. "You're going to tell me everything you know about what happened here. I want to know what happened to the looting party, Where some of them got dragged off too...And why Space Pirates are involved. Just tell me everything you know, And you can go back home. Alright?" Samus would say.
Clambering out of the crater, Pac-Man looked around before catching eye of the two in pursuit. He kicked up some dust before speeding on over to them.
Perhaps it was that he was a bit late to the party but he found the strange-looking alien holding up an ornament while the purple-N-white robo was honed in on it's head. Pac-Man watched for a moment noting the tension in the situation. He looked over to the other member who looked what he heard called human within the sphere. He wasn't entirely sure what a human was but he was seeing plenty of them. Nonetheless, Pac-Man turned his attention back to the alien being held at gunpoint and slight frown formed on him. He never understood why everyone always resorted to violence around these parts. Things weren't so extreme like this back home. Well, there was the occasional evil doer but that was different sort of thing. Seeing as everyone was working together to stay alive, he felt that it wouldn't be such a great idea to pull a stunt like this.
"Hey, uh, let's cool our jets for a second here, huh?"
Pac-Man carefully inched his way over to the side and into Samus and the Arachnus' sight.
"I'm sure we can get out of this without anyone else getting hurt. Just tell my friend here what we need to know and we can all leave here in one piece, capiche?"
A wink was thrown over at the hurt alien, hoping he would get the right idea.

KOS-MOS would look at the Arachnus, but rather than ask questions, would pick up the bauble and examine it. "This is more likely to not sell for much in the black market..." she would say, looking at Pac-Man out of curiosity as she turned to face him... And her sensors, which were semi-active, immediately picked up on something.

“Ey, the Black Market ain’t all just about weapons and the good stuff. Sunshine Stadium memorabilia is all the rage, especially old MC Ballyhoo merch. Stuff’s a real collector’s item ever since he left the commentating biz” the creature informed, an almost offended expression at KOS-MOS’s attempt at authenticating the trinket.
His gaze would only be fixated on KOS-MOS for a short while. The Arachnus froze back up, its claws still in a position of surrender. As the bounty hunter’s weapon grew closer, he could feel the warmth of its glow, its power beam charging up.
[Intelligence check: zuPHp3TYp_1d20-1] <12>
Eyes wide as dinner plates, the Arachnus tried to shut them, as if pre-emptively anticipating the cross into oblivion. “I lied! Okay! I don’t have kids!” he loudly admitted. His head shook frantically. “Ah, gods. Look, I know that wasn’t what you were asking, but that thing in my face is making me question all my life decisions and now stuff is just coming out of me” he blabbed out of desperation, his little feet stomping like a distressed Animal Crossing villager.
As the round yellow one approached, the creature could barely take his eyes off of the glowing gun in front of him, but between all the bounty hunters and living weapons lurking about, he maybe didn’t want to know what new terror awaited him. His attempts at diffusing the situation was appreciated, but didn’t change the fact he was a trigger press away from being the next notch on Samus’ long list of victims. He nearly asked if he could talk to the yellow spheroid instead, but that would probably push his luck further than he wanted. The fact that there was one less serial murderer on the scene made things… slightly less intimidating.
“I didn’t see much, but I’ll tell yah what I know! This area here? This is Ghor’s turf. Big metal guy, rides around in big mech suit. He’s had his gang stationed out here a long time, but that’s hush-hush Black Market stuff. I know five different guys who’ll beat my head in for telling you this. Word on the street is he built the Absolution’s warp drive in this very spot.”
“I dunno what happened to this looting party, but I know there’s people in the Black Market who think its funny to send people here to get vaporized by pirates… its not dignified, but I just come along to collect the scraps. I got nothing to do with it, I swear.”
At the question of where the missing trophies had gone off to, the Arachnus pointed back to the crater, more specifically the off-colour tile of terrain. “There’s a trap door over there. I’ve seen pirates crawling in and out of that thing at least three times today. They took a trophy down with them. I dunno what they’re doing with it, they usually just blast’em and leave’em for the Starvia to sort out.”
KOS-MOS’s sensors were right to remain open. As the group interrogated the Arachnus, the collection of phazon energy from the crater had managed to follow them out of the hole, rolling along the ground like a fog. It moved at a snail’s pace, though most assuredly, it was following in their footsteps almost exactly. It gave off a very weak energy signal though. Did that mean it wasn’t a threat though?1d20-1

KOS-MOS would keep her eyes on the cloud, though she did feel some form of concern that something outside of her logic could be potentially dangerous, that was what she could justify and it was a simple thing to try to contain whatever that substance was.

Samus continued listening to the Arachnus jaw about what he knew of the Location. "Gohr..." Samus would say, Both with a Conviction of Anger, But also Grief...Samus continued to Listen. Space Pirates rip this place apart for Black Market Goods, And they reside in That Trap Door. Samus narrowed her eyes at the Arachnus through her helmet, as her Arm Cannon whirred with power, as if ready to begin firing....Before Samus lifted her arm cannon in the air and fired into the Polluted Starvia Sky, Setting her arm cannon to her side afterwards, and stepping aside for the Arachnus.
"Go back to the Life Sphere, Get home, and By Chozodia, Get out of this Black Market Gig, Alright? Do something better with your life." Samus would say. The Fire into the sky was more to put the fear of Samus into the Arachnus's Soul, As Samus turned her back on the Arachnus, and approached the Trap Door. Samus's own Sensor activated....Samus let out a sigh of aggravation. "...Everyone, Stay advised and Stay cautious. If you begin to feel sick, Prepare to Retreat and leave. If you get Infected, You're less of a threat the further you are." Samus would warn, As she reached down, Threw open the Trap door, And Promptly did the most Samus action she could.
