Welcome, fellow warriors of the fray, to Super Smash Brothers: LIFE ITSELF!
We are the original SSB RP forum, and are a dedicated, friendly, community.
Years after the Subspace Emissary collapse, a mysterious explosion forced Nintendo Universes to a planet called Li.
A mystical force is said to be the cause of bringing everyone into a trap of noxious gas known as Starvia.
It is up to the new Smash Brothers of Li to step up and change the world through their actions.
Will you make the right choice?

Yo! Cool asked me if she could app The Power Puff Girls as like, a joke, and I took it seriously out of spite and went looking to see if it had a legitimate crossover that would make such a thing possible. And as it turns out, it does! Lego Dimensions features The Power Puff Girls prominently alongside Sonic. Quick heads up: This does not mean Lego is going to be ligal. We are treating Lego like a conflicting art style rather than a series. So if someone apped The Powerpuff Girls it wouldn't be the Lego Powerpuff Girls.
I think The Powerpuff Girls would fit right at home on Li. They have lots of personality they can use to somewhat uniquely contribute to Li's atmosphere. (They're kindergartners, an age group among player characters shared only by Little Arle right now). And they have lots of special abilities to pull from for attacks, being primarily martial characters with a variety of of supernatural abilities. You tell me with a straight face you don't want to see them protect Hylia's Grace from evildoers or perhaps a Girls Night Out villain and I'll believe you. ...Because I have no reason not to. But I'll be surprised!
There's also the villains to consider. The Rowdy Ruff Boys are actually slightly stronger than the girls with a critical weakness to "girly things" that allowed them to be defeated. Mojo Jojo is analagous to Dr. Eggman in that he has tons of unique war gadgets he can pull from. And Him has the powers of Hell behind him. I'm sure you could get pretty creative with that if you wanted to. And yeah, maybe the Gangreen Gang and the Amoeba Boys are too limiting in their mundanity for player characters, but they could make fun NPCs to have around.
Well... I don't really agree with this. I like the Power Puff Girls, but in Li? They're more cartoon characters than video game characters. DBZ have so many more video games than PPG do, so unless they get whitelisted, I don't think PPG should. I also think that balancing three characters that are pretty much three kindergarten girl versions of Superman would be a nightmare. Like, how do you play a character with that strength and balance them? Comparing them to Sonic isn't accurate. They have powers similar to Super Man, so if Superman is whitelisted, I could see them working, but unless Superman or other super heroes are whitelisted, I don't think they should be.
I'm not naming these characters because I want them here. Frankly, I'm not sure if I'd like people like the DBZ crew or Superman in, but that's precisely why I don't want PPG in. They've got the same extreme almost invulnerability, which is good for them, not so much for balancing. So my answer for these guys is no. I do like them a lot, but I don't think they should be here, sorry. There are other series that qualify more than this one.
Yo! The staff has come to a consensus on the powerpuff girls whitelist. And that consensus is that the powerpuff girls will be white listed, effective immediately!
While we considered the concerns raised, we were unable to substantiate them. As a reminder, we never use precedence during white list tests. Precedence is the idea that if one series should be/shouldn't be/is/isn't ligal, another series should follow. It's our experience that comparisons to other series are very easy to make, and tend to induce biases that ultimately distracts from the actual merits of the series up for white listing. So we actually strongly avoid them during our internal debates. While we could whitelist DBZ or Superman, we haven't because those series didn't stand up to a merit test long enough for us to even make a test thread asking for feedback.
For DBZ we might say for example that the scale of power in the series is extreme, and much more importantly someone apping that series is unlikely to be happy playing immensely weaker versions of these characters because the series Z and onward is designed to be a power fantasy, meaning that it's fairly likely they'd want to push boundaries and see what they can get away with. So there would be a high probability that white listing DBZ would have a negative impact on the site as a whole.
The good news is that the powerpuff girls are actually pretty vulnerable. The show is pretty inconsistent with exactly how strong they are, but with regards to hurting them, a simple punch from an average joe will do the job. I'm not saying Average the Joe will win that fight, but our strong fighters here on Li could absolutely hold their own. With regards to their actual combat potential, they've been defeated quite a few times. In one episode they're shown completely unable to hurt one of the kaijus strolling through their city. They never actually find a way to hurt it. They wind up having to talk to it, and it just so happens the monster didn't particularly care about attacking the city and was fine leaving. In another they are repeatedly defeated by a small boulder being dropped on them. They're not exactly planetbusters--or anywhere close to such. The series also isn't really a power fantasy, it's more about the humor of a group of kindergartners flying around with powers they don't have the experience to use with finesse, like someone wielding a sword much too big for them, so I don't expect that the average powerpuff fan would particularly mind nerfing/ignoring some of the more powerful abilities they have.
Regardless, thanks everyone for chiming in. If nothing else we like knowing how people feel. It's valid to not feel like a series belongs even if there are disagreements about why.
